The final week of the 5/6th girls regular season is complete.

The #3 SBC Lady Pacers will also play the #6 CBC Wildcats in the 1st round. the Wildcats dropped their week 7 game vs the LCC Lady Wildcats 24-16 this afternoon.

The #4 Lady Wildcats were able to edge the Yellow Jackets in the standings due to their week Five 2 point win over the jackets. However, they will still face the #5 Yellow Jackets in 1st round action next week.

2017 5/6th grade girls tournament bracket:

2016-17 5/6th Girls Tournament

5/6th Boys

In the Stars Conference, The standings remain the same as last week. The top 3 teams won and bottom 3 teams didn’t. The Kings are now locked into the #1 Stars conference tournament seed, but the other seeds are still in play.

In Stripes Conference play, although the standings stayed the same as week 6, tournament seeds will hinge on the week 8 results. The #1 Bearcats and #2 Rock will face off in week 8. The pressure is on the Rock to take down the undefeated ‘Cats.

If the Sword overcome the Demolition it make help break up the “Coexist tie” at 4th place. Within that tie, the Vikings and the Carpenters will face off with lower seed opponents.

The Warriors and Wildcats both face uphill challenges this week but anything is possible.

Stars Conference:

FCC Athens Athletics Win 41-37 over CBC Lion

FCC Bethlehem Kings Win 26-17 over HCG Cavaliers

HCG Clippers Win 30-19 over CBC Cavaliers

Stripes Conference:

7/8th Girls

In 7/8th Grade girls action there were a couple moves this weekend.

The Bearcats topped the Lady Lynx to stay in the top position going into week #8.

The Wildcats went to Springboro with fire protective gear on and wear able to handle the Lady Flames and break their tie to take the #2 seed.

The Lady Flames dropped to #3 and will need to fight through a tough Mercury squad to hold onto the 3 seed for one more week.

The Mercury won both games of their doubleheader today, putting themselves potentially into a good spot next week if they can maintain momentum.

The Crete Storm win over the Stars gave them a boost in the standings, but they will face a One Two punch next week by the #1 ans #2 seeds so it will be difficult but not impossible to hold that spot.

PP Mercury Win 29-4 over PP Lady Terrapins

FCC Crete Storm Win 29-26 over PP Stars

PP Mercury Win 20-12 over TCA Musketeers

CBC Wildcats Win 25-15 over SBC Lady Flames

CBC Bearcats Win 37-12 over LCC Lady Lynx

The SBC Flyers beat the Titans to split their tie and move into the 4th seed and drop the Titans to #5. The River Lions, Highlanders and hurricanes round out the conference in #6, 7 & 8th seeds.

In the Stripes Conference, the Bulls continued to tear up the China shop with a 22 point win over the #2 Philipian Earthquake.

The Tigers lost a physical game with the Cavaliers. With the Nineveh Rebounders, Cavs and Damascus Rebounders winning their games, they all moved up and the Tigers dropped from the #3 to #6th seed.

5/6th Girls

There was only one change in the 5/6th grade girls standings this week. Two wins in todays doubleheader put the Mt Sinai Big Ten even with the SBC Lady Pacers at 6-1. The Mt Sinai Big Ten’s performance vs the same opponents as the Lady Pacers gives them and edge in the tie. That edge will mean nothing in 7 days though as the Big Ten and Pacers will face off in the last week of the regular season to see who goes into the girls 5/6th tournament with a higher seed.

The HCG Lynx rolled to victory over the LCC Lady Wildcats (#5) to hold onto the #1 seed heading into the final week.

The Yellowjackets, CBC Wildcats and Lady Tigers all struggled this week and remain the #4, #6 & #7 seeds.

FCC Mt Sinai Big Ten Win 25-6 over LCC Lady Tigers

SBC Lady Pacers Win 22-16 over FCC Yellow Jackets

FCC Mt Sinai Big Ten Win 24-4 over CBC Wildcats

HCG Lynx Win 28-14 over LCC Lady Wildcats

5/6th Boys

In the Stars Conference, the Kings rolled to victory over the Cavaliers to maintain the top position.

The Clippers and Athens Athletics both won to move to 4-2. Due to the schedule conflict on week 3 the 2 teams have not faced off (YET). When considering performance vs the same opponents, the Clippers have the edge but everything can be thrown out the window in week 8. If both teams win next week, they will face each other in week #8 to set the record straight.

Both HCG and CBC Cavaliers struggles continued and the CBC Lion dropped their game vs the Clippers. These three teams round out the bottom half of the conference.

In the Stripes Conference, the Bearcats, Rock and Sword held tight in the 1, 2, 3 spots. In a rock – paper – scissors tie, the Vikings, Demolition & Carpenters are all 3-3.  The Vikes have  beat the Demolition. The Demolition have beat the Carpenters. BUT, the Nazareth Carpenters have beat the Vikings. For now they are tied in the 4 spot. The next 2 weeks will shake up this tie and give some clarity going into the tournament.

The Warriors and the Wildcats stayed in the same positions as last week but this Saturday they will face off and one team will walk away with the W.

Stars Conference:

HCG Clippers Win 52-34 over CBC Lion

FCC Athens Athletics Win 32-28 over HCG Cavaliers

FCC Bethlehem Kings Win 34-5 over CBC Cavaliers

Stripes Conference:

TCA Bearcats Win 37-16 over LCC Vikings

FCC Jericho Demolition Win 41-29 over FCC Nazareth Carpenters

CBC Rock Win 42-23 over  HCG Warriors

CBC Sword Win 32-6 over LCC Wildcats

7/8th Girls

There were a lot of moves in the 7/8th grade girls group this week.

The Wildcats were off this week, but the SBC Lady Flames were hot enough to burnout the Stars and even their overall record with the Wildcats. The Flames overall have had better performance vs the same opponents as the Wildcats so they get the better end of this tie breaker and sneak into the #2 spot. All bets will be off next week as the 2 teams will face off and settle their tie.

The Lady Lynx topped the Musketeers and took advantage of a Mercury loss to the Bearcats to move up into the #4 spot and bump the Mercury down to #5. The Mercury will be boiling and ready to go next week as they have a doubleheader and a chance to overtake the Lady Lynx again.

The Musketeers lost but maintained the #6 spot coming out of week six.

The Lady Terrapins held tight in forced their way through the Storm to take their 1st win of the season and climb up to the #8 slot.

The topseed Bearcats held tight but they will face a tough challenge this Saturday against the Lady Lynx.

Princeton Pike Lady Terrapins Win 24-15 over FCC Crete Storm

SBC Lady Flames Win 19-13 over Princeton Pike Stars

LCC Lady Lynx Win 38-24 over TCA Musketeers

CBC Bearcats Win 28-12 over Princeton Pike Mercury

Complete Scores and Standings are updated here:

Girls 7/8th Grade Division

7/8th Boys

In the Stars Conference, the Buckeyes and Wildcats both delivered decisive wins over their opponents to stay at 1 & 2.

The Riptide, Titans and Flyers are all tied at 3-3 but when performance vs the same opponents is considered, the Riptide hold onto #3 while the Titans and Flyers keep the #4 and #5 spots. This 3 way tie will be shaken up in the next 2 weeks with 2 head to head matchups clearing the smoke.

The River Lions and Highlanders are tied at 2-4 but in the head to head matchup the River Lions take the high road.

The Hurricanes  finish out the conference.

In the Stripes Conference,  The Bulls rampaged in Hamilton goring the #3 Tigers to hold onto their undefeated record.

The Phillipian Earthquake canned the Boilermakers to keep the #2 seed.

Although the Tigers lost, they stayed at #3, but are tied 3-3 with the rebounders and the HCG Cavs. Because the Tigers beat the Rebounders in week 4 and the Rebounders beat the cavs in week 2, the Tigers are 3, Rebounders are 4 and Cavaliers are 5 seeds.

The Damascus Blinders are the sole team at 3-3 and they hold the 6 slot.. The Suns are #7 with the loss to the Blinders.

The Boilermakers (1-5) have outperformed the Bearcats (1-5) vs the same opponents. Therefore, as of this week, the Boilermakers hold the edge on the Bearcats. They will not face each other in the regular season.

The Warriors round out the Stripes Conference and will face off against the Blinders next Saturday looking for a W.

Stars Conference:

Princeton Pike River Lions Win 44-31 over Princeton Pike Highlanders

SBC Flyers Win 37-18 over Princeton Pike Hurricanes

SBC Buckeyes Win 58-41 over Princeton Pike Riptide

5/6th Girls

Within the standings, nothing changed this week in girls 5/6th grade action. The top 3 team each maintained their positions by winning. The Timnah Yellow Jackets lost but the LCC Lady Wildcats split their doubleheader and were not able to make up ground on the Jackets. The CBC Wildcats and the LCC Lady Tigers round out the division.

In Week #6, FCC is the place to be for 5/6th girls games as the Big Ten host a doubleheader with the Lady Tigers & Wildcats and the Yellow Jackets take on the SBC Lady Pacers. The HCG Lynx will trek out to Harrison to square off with the Lady Wildcats at LCC.

In the Stars Conference this week there was no movement in the standings. The Kings won again, overtaking the Athens Athletics 35-25. The Clippers are nipping at the Athletics heels though. With a 40-34 win over the HCG Cavs they are showing they want to take that #2 spot. The CBC Lion roared over the CBC Cavs 27-12 to almost tie with the HCG Cavs but by dropping their Week 4 matchup keeps them just behind the HCG Cavs in the standings.

In the Stripes Conference, the TCA Bearcats narrowly escaped the Sword with a 4 point win. The Rock rolled to a 27-12 victory hosting the LCC Wildcats. The Carpenters narrow victory over the Vikings allowed them to sneak up and drop the Vikes back in the standings. The Demolition pulled out a win over the Warriors to keep themselves in a position for a possible standings jump withing the next 2 weeks.

Stars Conference:

FCC Bethlehem Kings Win 35-25 over FCC Athens Athletics

CBC Lion Win 27-12 over CBC Cavaliers

Week 6 did not bring as much excitement as thought, all teams maintained position except the #1 & 2 seeds.

The matchup between the CBC Wildcats and CBC Bearcats was dampened by Wildcat injuries early in the game that gave the aggressive Bearcats an easy path to victory. The final score was 27-7, but surely the Wildcats will be looking for a rematch later in the season with everyone healthy.

In other games, the Lady Flames brought BBQ down to Princeton Pike but since turtles are vegetarian things didn’t work out for the Terps and the Flames pulled off their 3rd win in a row. The Musketeers weathered the Crete Storm and came away with a 24-9 victory. And the lady Lynx shot out the Stars 28-19.

In Week #6, The Bearcats will host the Mercury in another top seed test for the ‘Cats. the Lady Flames will burn rubber out to Princeton Pike to take on the Stars. The Musketeers will play at the lady Lynx and try to overtake 5th place. The Crete Storm will visit the Lady terrapins to see who comes away with the W. The CBC Wildcats will have a bye week to rest up and prepare for another challenging game vs. the Flames in week #7.

TCA Musketeers Win 24-9 over FCC Crete Storm

SBC Lady Flames Win 22-8 over PP Lady Terrapins

In Stars Conference play, the Winner of the battle of the undefeated teams was the SBC Buckeyes. The Buckeyes stayed strong and hit key shots down the stretch to overcome the Wildcats 41-34. The loss puts the Buck in the #1 seed and bumps the Wildcats to #2.

The Titans won  37-29 over the Highlanders and the Riptide bested the Hurricanes 36-29 so both teams are 3-2. The hurricanes will square off against the Buckeyes and the Titans will face off with the Wildcats this coming Saturday as both teams look to climb higher up in the conference.

With the Titan Win over the Highlanders and the SBC Flyers win over the River Lions, the Flyers were able to inch up in the standings and move into 5th place. The Flyers beat the Highlanders in week#3 so that gives them a head up at least for this week.

The River Lions and Hurricanes are working hard to retool and are looking to come back strong in the next week. The River Lions will take on the Highlanders and the Hurricanes will host the Flyers.

In the Stripes Conference, the top half of the division stayed put. The Bulls won decisively over the Suns 63-22. With a strong showing in the 2nd half the #3 Tigers took over their game and won their 4th straight game to tie the Earthquake. The Tigers loss to the Earthquake in Week#1 breaks their tie and keeps the Quake at #2 even after they lost their first game of the year to the HCG Cavaliers 35-26.

The Ninevah Rebounders put the visiting Boilermakers on ice and put a 4 point Win (35-31) in the books.

The Damascus Blinders win over the Bearcats and the Suns loss to the Bulls puts both teams at 2-3 for the season. Although both teams have the same record (for now) their tie is broken by their showing versus similar opponents. This weekend, they will play each other and both get a shot at climbing over the other team.

The Boilermakers and Bearcats both sit at 1-4 right now but in the one match vs a similar opponent, the LCC Warriors, the Boilermakers had a stronger showing. Both teams will be focusing on  improving their play over the next couple weeks and getting themselves in a good position as they enter tournament week.

The Warriors will fight on in search of the W as they take on the 4th place Rebounders at FCC this Saturday.

In 5/6th Girls action the HCG Lynx maintained pole position coming out of the halfway point in the season with a 24-20 overtime win over the visiting Mt Sinai Big Ten.

The SBC Lady Pacers took advantage of the Big Ten loss by taking their game with the LCC Lady Wildcats by 3 points and moving up into the #2 position.

The LCC Lady Tigers had a challenging doubleheader today. They played the CBC Wildcats in the early game falling short by 10 points and the lost a heartbreaker in the late game vs the Yellow Jackets by 4 points.

5/6th Boys

In the Stars Conference, the Bethlehem Kings and Athens Athletics both came away from Week #4 with wins over the HCG Clippers and CBC Cavaliers to stay at the #1 & #2 positions.

The HCG Cavaliers pulled out a 2 point win over the CBC Lion to sneak up and tie the HCG Clippers for #3 seed. The win at CBC was just a little tougher as the game tying shot fell in with 2.2 seconds left on the game clock but was erased because the Lions had called a Timeout just before the shot went up. The Lions weren’t able to pull off a quick shot coming out of the timeout and the Cavs got the W.   While that is a tough loss, no game is decided by just one play, so the Lion will take this as a lesson and get to work next practice night.

In the Stripes Conference, not a lot changed. The TCA Bearcats won decisively over the LCC Wildcats to stay at the #1 spot. The Rock, Vikings and Sword all won to stay locked up at #2. The Carpenters lost and now they own the #3 slot. The Jericho Demolition now are the sole owner of the #4 position while the HCG Warriors and the LCC Wildcats are still tied in the lower end of the standings.

In Week #5 the Bethlehem Kings will attempt to distance themselves from the Athletics when the two face off. The HCG Clippers and HCG Cavs will meet to breakup the tie in 3rd place. And the #4 Lion will play the #5 Cavs at home at CBC.

In Week 5 Stripes Conference play, the TCA Bearcats will get a shot at the CBC Sword to see if they can stay at #1. The Carpenters will host the Vikings while they try to tie the nordsman’s record at 3-2.  The Demolition will travel out to HCG to play the Warriors. And the LCC Wildcats will visit CBC to see if they can chip the Rock.

7/8th Girls

Week #4 brought the excitement.

As expected, the CBC Wildcats were challenged by both the Mercury and the Lady Lynx. The Wildcats and Mercury traded baskets throughout the game nearly going into OT, but the Wildcats were able to take a 2 pt win in an exciting 1st game of a doubleheader.  The Lady Lynx took a 17-12 lead into halftime but foul trouble in the second half allowed the Wildcats to outscore them 17-2 in the 3rd period. The 4th period basket trading was even but the damage was done and the Wildcats took their 2nd win of the day to finish Week #4 at 5-0.

The CBC Bearcats (4-0) and the SBC Lady Flames (3-1) both won easily over the Stars and the Crete Storm to hold onto the #2 & #3 spots.

The Musketeers climbed up a spot with their win to tie the Princeton Pike Stars in the #6 spot.

Week #5 will bring the action. The CBC Wildcats and CBC Bearcats will play each other at home so there will be only one undefeated team left after next Saturday. The Crete Storm will try to overtake the Musketeers & pull themselves up in the standings. The Lady Flames will be in snapping turtle territory when they visit the Terrapins. And the Lynx will be depending on the Force to help them be Stars destroyers this week. 7/8th Boys

7/8th boys action brought another good week with 5 of the 9 games being decided by less than 7 points. Another was finalized by 12 pts, but the were 3 lopsided games.

In the Stars Conference, The #1 tied Wildcats had a lopsided game with the River Lions finishing with a large margin of victory. The other #1 Buckeyes had a closer game but was still nearly 20 points in favor of the Bucks. The Highlanders pulled out a close win over the Hurricanes to jockey themselves up a few spots into a 3 way #2 tie with the Titans and Riptide.

In the Stripes Conference, there was some moving around but not in the top of the bracket. The Bulls and the Earthquake both won. The Bulls win dropped the Damascus Blinders into a #4 tie. The Earthquake handily won over the Warriors to keep their position.

The Boilermakers took the HCG Cavs into OT but could not close the deal and did not come away with their 2nd W of the year. The Boilermakers remain tied with the CBC Bearcats who lost a tough 2 point match with the HCG Suns.

The Tigers won their 3rd straight game tonight but not without stressing the coach staff.  Down 26-17 at the half and then 35-28 after the 3rd quarter, things didn’t look good for the Tigers. But, they pulled off a 15-2 run in the 4th to take the lead and the Win. With that Win, the Tigers are able to take the sole #2 seed.

In Week #5 games: The #1 tie will be broken. The Wildcats will visit the Buckeyes in a battle of the topseeds. The Titans and the Highlanders will also meet to snap their tie in 2nd place. The Flyers & River Lions will decide who splits their tie. And, the Hurricanes will bring the storm to the Highlanders to see if they can get their 1st win of the season. tune into Week #5 to find out more 🙂

Week #3 was kicked off early with a close match Friday night in Springboro between the SBC Lady Pacers and the LCC Lady Wildcats. The Pacers were able to muscle their way to a 23-18 win to take over the 3rd place slot in the 5/6th girls division. The Pacers got another shot at a W Saturday when they played the FCC Timnah Yellow Jackets. They took advantage of that a captured 2 wins this weekend.

The CBC Wildcats continued to improve but it was not enough to overcome the Big Ten when they played FCC today.

7/8th Girls

The 3 3-way ties were broken up this week in 7/8th grade girls play.

The CBC Bearcats and Wildcats both won again this weekend to maintain position in the top 2 spots. The Wildcats will be challenged this week as they face a tough week 4 doubleheader against 2 strong teams when they play the Mercury in the afternoon and then the Lady Lynx to cap off the night.

The Princeton Pike Mercury game ended in a draw after OT to knock them a half game back into the 2nd seed.

The SBC Lady Flames edged the TCA Musketeers to take ownership of the 3rd seed while the Lady Lynx tie with the Mercury bumped them into #4.

The Princeton Pike Stars loss to the Wildcats leaves them in the 5th seed. They will face off against the other CBC team this weekend as the Bearcats visit them at home.

The FCC Crete Storm had a bye week so they are now #6, but the loss by the TCA Musketeers to the Lady Flames and the loss by the Lady Terrapins to the Bearcats has them now tied at the 7th seed. Either the Musketeers or the Terrapins will come away from week #4 with a win when they face off Saturday morning. Will the Musketeers trump Princeton Pike or will they fear the turtles?

7/8th Boys

In 7/8th grade action, we had a few close games this week but not as many as last week.

In the Stars Conference, the CBC Wildcats overcame the Riptide in the early game at Princeton Pike to remain undefeated. The SBC Buckeyes also withstood a tough challenge from the Princeton Pike River Lions to walk away with a 3 point win and remain tied with the Wildcats at #1.

The Princeton Pike Titans 45-41 win over the Princeton Pike River Lions this week leap frogged them over 3 teams to take over the #2 seed in the conference.

The SBC Flyers also won their first game helping them move up although they are still in a 4 way tie for 3rd place with the River Lions, Riptide and Highlanders.

All Stars Conference action will take place at Princeton Pike this weekend with 4 back to back games starting at 10am. It could be an interesting weekend as the Wildcats and the Buckeyes face off against top rated teams. The 4 way tie for 3rd seed will get broken up too. The standings next week could look much different.

In the Stripes Conference, there was a top seed shake up. The HCG Bulls upset the top seed Ninevah Rebounders to stay undefeated and move into a 2 way tie with the Philipian Earthquake. With their loss the Rebounders move to a tie for the 2nd seed with the CBC Tigers who overcame the CBC Bearcats to capture their 2nd win of the year.

The Philipian Earthquake brought dusk to the HCG Suns to remain undefeated and stay in the same spot as week #2.

The Damascus Blinders and the Boilermakers both gained their first W of the year by overcoming the HCG Cavaliers and LCC Warriors in close matchups.

The tie for #2 will be broken up this week as the Ninevah Rebounders visit the Tigers. Will the Rebounders Rebound or will CBC have the “Eye of the Tiger”?

A couple ties for 3rd seed will be broken up as the Boilermakers visit the Cavaliers and the Bearcats visit the Suns. Can the Boilermakers turn up the heat on the Cavs? Can the Bearcats turn off the lights or will the Suns be too hot to handle?

5/6th grade boys:

There were some pretty good games in 5/6th Boys action this weekend.

In the Stars Conference, there are now 3 ties for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place after the Clippers and the Kings pulled out wins vs the CBC Cavaliers and the HCG Cavaliers. Not a good weekend to be a Cavalier (unless you are a Cleveland Cavalier, that is – in that case you would be happy after winning 120-108 Friday night). In the other Stars Conference game, the Sword won a close game at FCC winning 25-22 to squeak past the Athens Athletics to. even their record at 1-1.

In the Stripes Conference, there was an OT thriller as the TCA Bearcats took advantage of foul trouble on the Rock. Riding the hot hand of Baby Steph Curry and his 5 three pointers the Bearcats came from behind to force OT. The game came down to a last second shot with 1.1 seconds left on the clock that would have forced Double OT.  The ball rolled around the rim and fell out giving TCA the 33-31 win.

Also in Stripes Conference action, the LCC Vikings played strong vs the LCC Wildcats to take the win. The CBC Sword & the FCC Nazareth Carpenters both won closer games vs the FCC Jericho Demolition & HCG Warriors to close out the division. This game was a fitting end to a day full of razor close games.

In the Stripes Conference, the CBC Bearcats came out on top of an offensive shootout at LCC vs the Warriors.
