5/6th Girls Division (standings)

The big winners today were the Lady Bone Crushers.  Their week 8 doubleheader worked to their favor. Picking up 2 wins (25-12 over the Benjamite Wolves & 24-10 over the Golden Flashes) they jumped from 5th to 3rd place on the last day of the season.

The Mt Sinai Big Ten easily held off the Lady Tar Heels 28-9 to remain undefeated and in #1. The Tar Heels dropped from #4 to 5 in the final tally.

The Lady Stallions held their spot in the “Vice-Presidency” with a 26-10 win over the Sky.

The Freedom won 23-21 over the Lady Blazers today BUT due to an early season 7-13 loss to the Bone Crushers, they dropped from the 3 to 4 seed once the ‘Crushers jumped up today.

The Golden Flashes finish the regular season at #6.

The Lady Blazers enter the tournament at #7 and the Benjamite Wolves at #8.

The Sky will play Monday evening against the #8 seed in the “Elite Eight play-in game”.

The first tournament games for all other 5/6th girls will be on Tuesday Evening.

5/6th Boys Division (standings)

The Last Day of the regular season did not go out quietly !

The Celtics vs Jericho Demolition game started out quietly enough – slowly rolling into the end of the 3rd quarter with a 14-8 Demolition lead. The Celts came alive, however, taking this one into overtime. Between the 4th quarter and 2nd overtime, the Celtics were at last at a 1 point deficit going into the final seconds of the 2nd OT. A “Hail Mary” 3 pointer as time expired found the bottom of the net and the Celts’ came out on top today 32-30.

The Bethlehem Kings popped the Sidon Hunters 40-12 to finish the season undefeated.

The Nazareth Carpenters also played hard and had strong results (32-13) over the Trailblazers 

The CBC Mavericks struggled a bit early on, but were able to overtake the Tar Heels 23-15.

The East finished the year with a couple last second moves in the standings.

The Bobcats beat the 76ers 19-16 to finish 8-0 and stay in the #1 spot, however, the loss drops the 76ers from #8 to 9 going into the tournament.

The #2 Bombers also won a close game (14-13) over the Thunderhawks to lock in the #2 seed for the end of the regular season. The Thunderhawks finish at #7.

The Thunderbolts climb up one spot to #3 with their 30-22 win over the #6 Firehawks. The previous #3 (Rangers) lost to the Bandits and drop to #5. While the Bandits jump to #4.

The last big move of the weekend was for the Fighting Irish. They beat the #10 Nighthawks to give them an edge in a tie break vs the ninth seed 76ers. The Irish finish the regular season in 8th place.

7/8th Girls Division (standings)

The girls kept things interesting today….. Don’t close the books on this year just yet…

The #4 Timnah Yellow Jackets beat the #2 Crete Storm 9-8 in a tight defensive battle.

The dominant Heat struggled against the Wildcats even into the 2nd half before finally taking the lead and finishing undefeated for the regular season. 

The 7/8th girls teams will be off until next Friday night .

7/8th Boys Division (standings)

The top 3 remained the same going into the tournament.

The Warriors defeated the Wolverines 48-22 to remain the #1 seed. With the loss, the Wolverines drop from 4th to 6th. 

The Philippian Earthquake 32-23 win over the Avalanche kept them locked in the #2 seed with a 1st round tournament bye. The Avalanche complete the regular season at #12.

The Lakers easily handled the Redhawks 45-32 to remain in 3rd place. The Redhawks fall to 9th place.

The Damascus Blinders 35-23 win over the Raptors helped them move into the #4 seed. While the Raptors finish #13 for the year.

Despite a 21-35 loss to the Thunder, the Cyclone finish at 5-3 and move up to #5. Because they had previously beat the Wolverines (also 5-3), the Cyclone won a tie break between to finish #5 while the Wolverines drop to #6.

The Thunder, despite their win, also drop 1 seed to #8 due to the Storm’s 26-19 win over the Bearcats. Both the Thunder and Storm finished with 4-4 records. The Storm’s 3 point week 7 overtime win over the Thunder breaks the tie between the 2 teams thereby giving the Storm the edge and the #7 seed. 

The Bearcats finish at 11th place with their loss to the Storm.

The previous #11 seed Nineveh Rebounders 35-20 win over the Hamilton Redhawks gave them a week 8 boost up one spot to #10.

The Avalanche, Raptors and HCG Redhawks round out the # 12, 13 and 14 spots heading into Tournament week.

5/6th Girls Division (standings)

The Mount Sinai Big Ten (7-0) 30-14 win over the Freedom dropped the Freedom to 4-3 but they were saved by the Lady Tar Heels 16-12 loss to the Lady Stallions. As a result, the top four teams from last week stay put in the standings this weekend. 

The Lady Bone Crushers (3-3) had a bye today & remain at #5. They finish the season with a doubleheader that could make a big difference in their standing going into the tournament.

The Golden Flashes big 15-10 win over the Benjamite Wolves today bumped them up to 6th place while the Wolves dropped from 6th to 8th seed. The Benjamite Wolves 2 seed drop is driven by the Lady Blazers 17-8 win over the #9 Sky. The Lady Blazers and the Benjamites are both 2-5 now but the Blazers beat them in head to head play earlier in the season.

5/6th Boys Division (standings)

The #1 Bethlehem Kings dominated the first and second games of their doubleheader today to move their record from 5-0 to 7-0. They handled the HCG Mavs early on while knocking the Celts hard 43-15 after their break.

The Athens Athletics controlled the #5 Mavericks most of the game as they finished with a 29-18 win locking in their regular season stats. The Athletics have a bye week in week 8.

The Nazareth Carpenters snared the Sidon Hunters from the start. They finished with a 32-9 win over the Hunters and remain in the #3 seed.

The Trailblazers finished strong versus the Jericho Demolition to stay (6-1) with a 26-19 win. The Demo remain a stronger team in the middle of the pack.

The Tar Heels held firm in their #7 spot for the week with a 23-22 win over the Golden Eagles. 

The Sidon Hunters, Celtics, Golden Eagles and Hamilton Maverick round out the 8th-11th seeds.

The Bobcats remained undefeated this week, fighting off the Rangers attempt at the thrown. The Bobcats were able to hold the Rangers off finishing 33-26. The (5-2) Rangers drop to the 3rd seed.

The Bombers took advantage of a win today over the Firehawks and an week 2 win over the Rangers to move into the #2 spot. The Firehawks drop from 5th to 6th heading into the final weekend.

The Thunderbolts 26-6 win over the Fighting Irish holds them in the #4 spot. 

The Bandits snuck in and took at 26-8 win over the Nighthawks moving the Bandits up one spot to the #5 seed.

The Thunderhawks also won today, but their 20-15 win over the 76ers did not help them move up in the Standings. They remain in the #7 seed heading into week 8.

The 76ers, Fighting Irish and Nighthawks round out the 8th, 9th and 10th seeds.

7/8th Girls Division (standings)

The Heat defeated the Crete Storm 33-14 to remain undefeated.

While the Heats continued dominance in the 7/8th division kept them on top of the division again this weekend, the Crete Storm remain right behind them in the #2 spot.

The Wildcats 22-10 win over the Timnah Yellow Jackets moved them into the #3 seed this weekend. The Jackets fall to #4.

7/8th Boys Division (standings)

There was no change in the 7/8th boys standings this weekend despite some very enjoyable to watch close games.

The Storm started the day out right with a 38-35 overtime win over the Thunder. While the standings didn’t change this week due to the tough-to-call 3 way 3-4 tie between the Thunder/Redhawks/Storm , the Storm hope to be in a better position going into week 8 as their last game is against a lower ranked opponent than the Thunder or CBC Redhawks. 

The Lakers decisive 32-6 win in Hamilton over the HCG Redhawks keeps them solidly in 3rd behind the Earthquake.

The Wolverines tore into the Avalanche 42-15 to keep them locked on to the #4 seed.

The #5 Damascus Blinders at 5-2 are right behind the Wolverines after their 26-18 win over the Bearcats. The Bearcats played well early on and looked like they could make things go their direction but the 2nd half didn’t work out and quickly went towards the Blinders. 

The #6 Cyclone dodged a bullet with a 39-38 win over the #11 Nineveh Rebounders today. Despite several ties and lead changes, the Cyclone maintained their composure and finished with the W.

The Philippian Earthquake easily maintained control over the #2 seed going into the final week with at 31-16 win over the Raptors.

The Warriors (7-0) held off the aggressive defense of the CBC Redhawks to come from behind in the 2nd half to defeat the ‘Hawks 48-36.

5/6th Girls Division (standings)

When it come to changes in the 5/6th girls standings, this weekend was all about the Benjamites….

The Benjamites were the only team to move up in the standings this week. They climbed from # 8 up to #6 with their win over the Sky.

The Lady Bone Crusher also darkened the Sky, winning 34-8.

The Tar Heels cooled down the Lady Blazers 26-8.

The Lady Stallions laid claim to sole possession of 2nd seed with their 17-7 win over the Freedom.

And, the #1 Mt Sinai Big Ten outshined the Golden Flashes 24-10 to stay undefeated.

5/6th Boys Division (standings)

The West standings were calm today. The top 6 teams all won today to maintain their week 5 positions.

The Kings did have a scare from the Tar Heels but came out the 19-16 victor in a defensive battle.

The Athens Athletics overcame a slow start to finish big winning 30-14 over the Celtics.

The Nazareth Carpenters hit the Hamilton Mavs hard and walked away with a 38-12 win.

The Trailblazers snuck out of Hamilton with a 3 point win over the Golden Eagles. The Eagles also lost to the Central Butler Mavericks 34-27 in the 2nd game of their doubleheader this afternoon.

Finally, the Jericho Demolition won a close one 20-17 over the Sidon Hunters.

The #1 Bobcats dropped the Bombers 29-19 today to send the Bombers down one spot to #3.

The Rangers climb up to the #2 spot with their 24-16 victory over the Nighthawks. 

The Thunderbolts hang on to the #4 spot with an amazing last second victory over the Thunderhawks. With 5 seconds to go, the Thunderbolts brought the ball down the court and drained a 20 foot jumper to walk off in celebration. The T’Hawks fall back one spot to #7 with the loss.

The Bandits 12-4 win over the Irishmen push them up into the 6th seed while the Fighting Irish drop to #9.

The 76ers won a nailbiter over the Firehawks, 20-18. With the win, the 76ers climb up to the 8th seed while the Firehawks maintain their position at #5.

The sun came up, the sky was blue and the SBC Heat won again today (32-8 vs the Wildcats). Interestingly enough, WLWT even noticed that the weather was normal in the region except for the scorching hot day in Springboro. Coincidence? We think not.  

The Crete Storm fought off their hometown nemesis Timnah Yellow Jackets (23-19) to stay in the #2 spot.

7/8th Boys Division (standings)

The top 3 teams won today to remain in the same place they were last weekend.

The #1 Warriors beat the Thunder 29-22, dropping them from #4 last week to #7 this week.

The #2 Philippian Earthquake rattled the Bearcats 31-11 dropping the ‘Cats from #8 to #10.

The #3 Lakers put on Showtime to take the Rebounders 40-22 however, the Rebounders stay put at the #11 seed this week, same as last.

The Wolverines move up to #4 with their 30-16 victory over the Raptors.

The Damascus Blinders also move up one spot to #5 with their win over the HCG Redhawks.

The Cyclone came down hard on the Storm winning 40-18 to move up to the #6 seed. 

The Central Butler Redhawks continue to bounce back in the standings with their 2nd win in a row. They climb one spot from #9 to #8 this week.

5/6th Girls Division (standings)

The Mt Sinai Big Ten (5-0) remain undefeated after putting the squeeze on the Lady Bone Crushers to take a 18-7 victory. The Crushers remain in the 5th seed heading into week 6.

The Lady Stallions 20-16 win over the Benjamite Wolves keeps them in the #2 spot, while the Freedom’s scrappy overtime win over the Lady Tar Heels keeps them at #3 this week.

While the Tar Heels dropped their first game of their doubleheader against the Freedom, they came back strong in the 2nd game to win 26-13 and stay put in 4th place this week.

The Golden Flashes are feeling ignited tonight after a 25-12 win over the Lady Blazers. The Flashes hopped up 2 spots this week to 6th place.

The Lady Blazers, Benjamite Wolves and Sky each have some promising opportunities in the next few weeks to steal a win and move up in the standings as we approach tournament week.

5/6th Boys Division (standings)

The Athens Athletics had a tough doubleheader week. They narrowly defeated the Jericho Demolition 25-20 in the early game before taking on the Trailblazers in the late game. The Athletics struggled early as neither them or the Trailblazers could take control of the game. The ‘Blazers held on and stayed close enough until the end of the game. They were able to drill a jumper from inside 3 point range to take a 13-12 lead with seconds left. The Athletics weren’t able to get a last second shot off and drop from #1 to #2 heading into next weekend.

The Bethlehem Kings just keep winning. Their 26-16 victory over the Golden Eagles give them the top seed moving into next week. They will take on the Tar Heels next Saturday.

The Nazareth Carpenters are not far behind the Kings & Athletics. Easily winning 37-11 today over the Tar Heels, they are looking forward to rectifying their single loss to the Kings come March.

The Central Butler Mavericks maintained their position on the top end of the bracket with a 38-11 victory today over the Celtics.  

The Sidon Hunters and Hamilton Mavericks had bye weeks this week and are all itching to get back into it next Saturday.

The Bobcats maintained their hold on the East division this week with a 25-16 win over the Firehawks (#5).

The Bombers (#2) & Rangers (#3) both stay right behind the ‘Cats with their wins over the Nighthawks and Thunderhawks.    

The Thunderbolts 18-13 win over the Bandits helps the ‘Bolts up into the #4 spot. 

The Fighting Irish victory over the 76ers proved the Irish don’t give up.

7/8th Girls Division (standings)

The Heat dominated again this afternoon with a 20 point win over the Yellow Jackets (1-4) to remain undefeated. They are now 5-0.

The Crete Storm (3-2) also had a dominant showing with a 29-6 win over the Wildcats (1-4) at North Fairfield.

7/8th Boys Division (standings)

The last 2 undefeated teams (Lakers & Warriors) in the 7/8th grade boys division met tonight in an instant classic battle. Down three at the half, the Warriors came back to tie it at the end of 3 periods. The game stayed within 1 shot the rest of the way only breaking in favor of the Warriors in the final seconds. This game moves the Warriors to the #1 spot and the Lakers drop to #3.

The Philippian Earthquake (4-1) rocked the Thunder 38-27 to bump themselves up into the #2 spot. The Thunder did well for losing, though, as they moved into the #4 spot as a result of other games.

The Cyclone were blindsided by the Damascus Blinders in a 50-35 defeat at Springboro. With the loss, the Cyclones fall from #4 to 7 for the week. The Blinders are the sole 6th place team now.

The Wolverines big win over the Bearcats, 31-16, helps them into the 5th spot. The Bearcats, who were in a 3-way logjam in 6th place last week drop to 8th tonight.

The Central Butler Redhawks dominated the Raptors to pick up a much needed W. They ski into next weeks game against the Avalanche in 9th place looking to pick up another win. The Avalanche meanwhile are getting ready to unleash a rough winter on someone. Next week will be a good game. 

The Rebounders and Storm had a close game but the Storm (#10) finally engulfed the Ninevites (#11) to take a 29-27 victory.

The Raptors, Avalanche and Hamilton Redhawks all hit the gym this week in preparation for their next wins. 

The next 3 weeks promise some very exciting games…… Stay Tuned

5/6th Girls Division (standings)

In a battle between the top 2 teams in the division, the Mt Sinai Big Ten (4-0) came out on top 20-12 over the Lady Stallions (3-1). The Big Ten will take on the Lady Bone Crushers next weekend.

The Freedom bounced back from their first loss last week with a win topping the Benjamite Wolves 17-8. The Freedom finish the week in the #3 spot and will defend it against the Lady Tar Heels next week. 

The #4 Lady Tar Heels shot past the Golden Flashes 25-6 to pick up their 2nd win. Next week will be a challenge for the ‘Heels as the take on both the Freedom and the Sky in  doubleheader action.

The Lady Bone Crushers (2-2) won their second game of the year in a 20-0 thumping of the Lady Blazers (1-3).

The Springboro Sky enjoyed their bye this weekend.

The Bethlehem Kings beat the CBC Mavericks 30-15 to stay at #2

The Nazareth Carpenters beat the Golden Eagles 40-21 to stay at #3

The Trailblazers channeled their inner Drexlers to overcome the Celtics 24-18

In their second game of a doubleheader, the Sidon Hunters overtook the HCG Mavericks 31-14 for their 2nd win of the year.

The Jericho Demolition overtook the Tar Heels despite a heated 4th quarter.

The Bobcats 32-21 win today over the Thunderbolts helped them pounce on the #1 spot. With the Bombers surprise 10-17 loss to the Bandits, the ‘Cats are the only undefeated left in the East.

The Rangers 16-8 win over the Irish helped them track into the #3 seed. Their previous win over the Firehawks bumps the ‘Hawks to the #4 spot.

The Thunderhawks, Thunderbolts & Bandits are all tied at #5.

The 76ers first win of the year gives them the 8th seed while the Irish (#9) and Nighthawks (#10) round out the division.

7/8th Girls Division (standings)

The Springboro winter Heatwave continues to stifle the girls 7/8th grade division. The Heat dominated the Crete Storm 30-18 to stay undefeated.

The Wildcats enjoyed their first victory of the season with an 18-15 triumph over the Timnah Yellow Jackets.

7/8th Boys Division (standings)

The excitement continues in 7/8th grade boys play this week…

The Earthquake calmed the Cyclone with a 33-29 victory, giving the twisters their first loss, dropping them down to 4th place and, in the process, the Earthquake set themselves up to climb 2 spots to #3 when the day was done.

The Lakers cleared the Avalanche 35-20. With the win they stay undefeated and now move into the #1 position.

Despite a barrage of blocked shots, the Warriors held off the Nineveh Rebounders 29-19 to remain the only other undefeated team in 7/8th grade.

The Lakers and Warriors will face off next week so soon enough there will be only one undefeated team left. 

The Thunder struck the Wolverines 35-21, helping themselves to move up to the 5th seed while Wolverines fell to 6th.  

The Bearcats played hard to overcome their hometown rivals Central Butler Redhawks. Down 3 at the half, they came out fighting in the 3rd, taking a small lead into the 4th where they were able to seal the deal.

The Damascus Blinders 29-27 OT win over the Storm bumps them into a 3 way 6th place tie with the Bearcats and Wolverines.

Next week will bring more head to head matchups that blow apart this weeks ties.

Friday January 24th scheduled games:

7/8th Boys Division (standings)

In Friday night basketball action up north in Springboro, the Warriors and Avalanche both struggled to find the basket early in what started as a rebounding game. The Warriors started to get things together in the 2nd half but the Avalanche kept the game tight trailing by 6 points early in the 4th quarter. Things broke in the Warriors favor midway through the final period as they finished with a 41-22 win.

Saturday January 25th scheduled games:

5/6th Girls Division (standings)

The top 2 teams in the 5/6th girls division cruised to 3-0 today. The Mt Sinai Big Ten chased away Benjamite Wolves to take a 26-10 victory and the Lady Stallions burnt the Lady Blazers 19-8. 

The Lady Bone Crushers stopped the Freedom’s undefeated start of the season and earned their first win of the year with a 13-7 win.

The Golden Flashes shot across the Sky to get their first W with a 23-12 win.

And just so we could say Benjamite a couple more times … The Benjamites started the day proving it was indeed all about the Benjamites by winning their first game of a doubleheader today in the early game against the Lady Tar Heels.  The Benjamites are now 1-2. Benjamites Baby!

5/6th Boys Division (standings)

The Athens Athletics had a big 32-17 win today over the Mavericks to stay undefeated and move into the top seed in the West.

The Bethlehem Kings started out slow. Trailing at the half, they tied the game up after 3 quarters and finished with a strong 4th quarter to knock off the Nazareth Carpenters 30-18. the Kings move up to the #2 seed.

The Central Butler Mavericks routed the Trailblazers 24-9. both teams are now 2-1.

The Tar Heels handled the Hamilton Mavericks 25-16 to move them into the 4 way tie in third place.

The Sidon Hunters picked up their first win of the season with a 22-19 win over the Celtics. The Hunters held a solid lead late in the game but had to fend off a last minute surge by the Celtics to get their victory. Both teams played hard down the stretch.

The Jericho Demolition also picked up their 1st win of the season with a 28-18 win over the Golden Eagles.

At (1-2), the Sidon Hunters, Celtics & Demolition are all tied up in 7th place. 

The Golden Eagles and HCG Mavs will roll into week 4 looking for their 1st W.

The Bombers and the Bobcats remain the only 2 undefeated teams in the East with their respective wins over the Thunderbolts and the Nighthawks.

Locked up in a 4 way tie for 3rd place are the Firehawks, Thunderhawks, Thunderbolts and Rangers.

The Bandits picked up their first win of the year (18-10 win over the 76ers) which gives them sole possession of the 7th spot.

The Fighting Irish, 76ers and Nighthawks will all head into week 4 looking to pick up there first victories of the season

The 7/8th girls standings stayed the same this week as the Springboro Heat visited Fairfield and pulled out a 21-4 win over the Wildcats and the Crete Storm held on to take a 13-6 victory over their hometown rivals the Timnah Yellow Jackets.

7/8th Boys Division (standings)

Today was a crazy day. Lots of moves, expected and unexpected. Let’s dig in…

Last weeks #1 seed, Philippian Earthquake (now tied for #4), were surprised with a 3 point loss to the previously #10th ranked SBC Storm, knocking them down a few spots.

The Cyclones toppled another undefeated team from last week by battling for a 34-33 road win over the #4 Wolverines. 

The Lakers impressive 34-13 win over the Raptors helped them remain undefeated and climb the standings.

The Warriors 41-22 win over the Avalanche kept them as the other 3-0 team.  They did not change position from week 2.

 The SBC Thunder move up to a #4 tie with their last minute 6 point comeback and last second shot to win 31-29 over the Central Butler Redhawks.

The Wolverines, Earthquake and Thunder are now tied in the #4 position.

In a wild 6 way tie for the 7th seed, the Rebounders, Raptors, CBC Redhawks, Storm, Bearcats and Blinders are all (1-2).

The Storm, Bearcats and Damascus Blinders all had their first wins today: 

The Storm had the biggest win of the day, as the previously #10 team dropped last weeks #1 team, the Phillipian Earthquake, 26-23. 

The Damascus Blinders surprising 28-24 win over the Rebounders took them from the 14th to 7th in one week.

The Bearcats had a hard fought 16-14 defensive win over the HCG Redhawks. Their 2 key steals late in the game helped them take the final lead that sealed their first win. 

The Avalanche and the HCG Redhawks remain in search of a win but based on their recent performance, they will not have to wait long for their first victory.

5/6th Girls Division (standings)

The Mt Sinai Big Ten (2-0) had another impressive game today to take the top spot in the 5/6th girls division with a 32-8 victory over the Sky (0-2).

The Lady Stallions (2-0) finally broke away from the Lady Bone Crushers (0-2) late in the game to grab the 2 spot while the Freedom (2-0) also eeked past the Golden Flashes (0-2) to take the #3 position.

The Lady Blazers won a nail biter 17-16 over the Benjamite Wolves (0-1) to break .500, making up for a week 1 loss.

The Lady Tar Heels had a bye in week #2.

The Nazareth Carpenters (2-0) won big over the Central Butler Mavericks 34-16. Their decisive play has them fixed in the #1 spot after week 2.

The #2 Athens Athletics (2-0) also won big today with a 28-12 victory over the Tar Heels.

In the #3 spot, the Trailblazers fought back the Sidon Hunters 27-21 to stay undefeated.

The Celtics (1-1) came alive in the 4th quarter today coming from behind 10-18 to take the game into overtime and then winning 24-19 over the Hamilton Mavericks.

The Thunderbolts (2-0) delivered a decisive 30-14 win over the 76ers today to stay undefeated and take the #1 seed.

The Firehawks, Bobcats and Bombers also remain undefeated to round out the top 4 teams. 

The Thunderhawks and Rangers are both 1-1 but the ‘Hawks hold the edge due to game #1  & #2 results.

The SBC Heat (2-0) had an impressive showing today to make them the team to beat in 2020. Their 36-13 win over the Yellow Jackets (1-1) today puts them in 1st place.

The Crete Storm (1-1) moved into the middle of the pack this afternoon with a 16-4 win over the Wildcats (0-2).

7/8th Boys Division (standings)

The Philippian Earthquake (2-0) shook the Damascus Blinders (0-2) with a 44-18 win to take a definitive first place in the 7/8th grade division today. 

The 2nd seed SBC Cyclone (2-0) held off the CBC Redhawks (1-1) as the angry birds battled back from an early deficit to come close in the 2nd half but fell short 26-38.

The Warriors (2-0) took an early lead before fending off a 3rd quarter comeback by the Raptors (1-1) to take control of the game and finish with a W.

The Wolverines 17-13 win over the Storm places them in the #4 spot going into week 3.

The Lakers (2-0) struggled out of the gate vs the Bearcats but they were able to take over the game in the second half finishing with a 20-14 win.

The SBC Thunder came back from a 3 point week 1 loss to roll past the HCG Redhawks 36-30.

The Nineveh Rebounders (1-1) also pulled even, winning 23-17 over the SBC Avalanche.

January 11th – Opening Day Games

 

5/6th Girls

In 5/6th grade girls action, the Lady Stallions and Mt Sinai Big Ten pulled off big wins against their opponents to kick off the year. 

The Freedom visited Springboro and darkened the Sky to take a 26-11 victory home with them. 

At North Fairfield the Lady Tar Heels struggled to move ahead of the Lady Bone Crushers but things finally broke for them late and they finished up with a 23-16 Opening Day win.

The CBC Mavericks brought down the Sidon Hunters finishing up with a 2 shot win at FCC. The HCG Mavericks were not as fortunate as they took on the Trailblazers, coming up short as the Trailblazers won 28-19.

The Tar Heels started out slow but their shots started falling giving them a comfortable 26-11 win over the Celtics. 

The Athens Athletics and the Nazareth Carpenters both pulled out double digit wins vs their opponents Golden Eagles and Jericho Demolition.

The Thunderbolts exploded today, opening the season with a 33-8 win over the Nighthawks.

The other 4 games in the Eastern Conference were relatively close and decided on by only a few baskets.

The Bobcats snagged the Thunderhawks to take a 5 point win. The Bombers, Firehawks and Rangers all won by 6 point margins over the Fighting Irish, Bandits and 76ers respectively.

In girls action, the Timnah Yellow Jackets bested the Wildcats by 2 baskets in a very close matchup.

The Heat cooled the Crete Storm and took a 36-28 win back home to Springboro.

7/8th Boys

The 7/8th Boys had plenty of nail-biters today.

The Raptors vs Avalanche game was a defensive back & forth that finally ended with the Raptors turning things to their favor and finishing 16-8.

The SBC Thunder pushed the Lakers hard, almost taking the game to overtime, but the Lakers held on to a 3 point lead to start 1-0. The CBC Redhawks held on to take a 2 point win over the Storm. 

The Warriors and Bearcats games was a classic. Both teams fought hard all game. The Score was tied after 3 quarters, went into OT and then a 2nd OT on clutch free throws and well timed layups. The Warriors got the ball with 11 seconds left in the 2nd OT at halfcourt, and found an open man who banked a driving layup in off the glass with 3 seconds left to take a 1 point victory.

 In non-nail-biter action, The Cyclones took a 14 point victory over the HCG Redhawks, the Earthquake won by 12 over the Rebounders and the Wolverines won by 10 over the Damascus Blinders.

The were plenty of good games to open the season, this is going to be a fun year to play Upward Basketball.
